Ruth Partington

Ruth is the founder and owner of Ruth Partington Pilates. She first discovered Pilates 20 years ago, having worked in the fitness industry for 15 years. She was impressed by the effect it had on her own fitness and it’s precise, intelligent approach. As she has gained more understanding and appreciation of the method it has become the main focus of her work. Ruth initially trained as a nurse in London and specialised in cardio-thoracic nursing in New Zealand – the place where her interest in health and fitness began.

On returning to the UK she moved into the fitness industry, gaining qualifications in exercise to music, gym instruction and personal training. She also worked in health club management and instructor education. She qualified with Body Control Pilates® in 2003 and began teaching group classes in health clubs and community halls as well one-to one clients in their own homes.

Her business now runs over 20 classes per week, with clients spanning all age groups and ability levels. Clients include those who are very fit, using Pilates to improve their performance in sport. She also has clients recovering recovering from injury or with chronic conditions, who’ve been referred by GP’s and physiotherapists.

Ruth and her team are committed to providing professional, high quality teaching that delivers the amazing benefits of Pilates to anyone who is willing to learn.

Katy Craik-White

Katy first discovered  Pilates in 2014. When a second caesarian left her with lower back pain, Pilates was recommended by her physiotherapist. She had always enjoyed playing sport and keeping fit – mainly with  high intensity cardio workouts, so Pilates felt very different. She was struck by the difference it made, not only to her back pain, but to her whole body after just a few sessions. She also enjoyed being able to work at her own pace and practise on her own without needing equipment or being tied to a gym.

When her youngest child started school, she was looking for a new challenge that fitted in with family life. Having personally gained so much benefit from Pilates, the next step of training as a teacher seemed a natural one. She gained her Pilates matwork qualification with Body Control Pilates®. She then completed their intermediate matwork course and hopes to move on to ante/post-natal Pilates and equipment training in the future.

Katy enjoys not only seeing clients leave classes feeling more mobile, but hearing the difference it makes to their daily lives. She is a caring, attentive, ‘hands on’ teacher who is committed to her clients gaining maximum enjoyment and benefit from her classes.

When she’s not teaching, Katy enjoys skiing, playing tennis, travelling and spending as much time as possible with her family.

Tracey Torrible

Tracey first discovered Pilates twenty years ago while working in the mainstream fitness industry. She gained her level 3 Pilates qualification with Modern Pilates in 2004. As a dancer, she loved how Pilates combines flexibility and core strength, to create long, lean muscles. She was also impressed by the endless benefits of Pilates to a wide range of people, including first-time exercisers and those recovering from injury.

Tracey trained in dance in the 1980’s and went on to teach aerobics – Jane Fonda style! Ten years later she returned to studying and gained a BSc in Health and Physical Education and a Level 3 Personal Training qualification. She also trained as an assessor for City and Guilds, RSA and YMCA, working nationally, delivering fitness qualifications.

Tracey currently works as a Personal Trainer as well as teaching a wide range of classes in addition to Pilates, from dance fitness to cardiac rehabilitation. She finds that reinforcing the principles of Pilates is a common thread in all her work. She believes that good posture and alignment is the foundation of all disciplines, as it maximises the benefits of exercise and minimises the risk of injury.

Tracey is an outgoing and approachable member of the team, with a wealth of teaching experience. Her teaching style is energetic and enthusiastic, with a good dose of fun!

When she’s not teaching, she’s always on the go – currently learning to line dance! She also loves walking in the hills of North Wales and the Lake District.

Keely McIntosh

Keely has been interested in sport and fitness from a young age and represented England in netball in her youth. She discovered Pilates by chance when she won a block of classes in a raffle! She was surprised by how much it strengthened her core muscles and changed her body. It was also the first type of exercise she felt actually changed the way she moved in everyday life.

Keely started training as a Pilates teacher four years after attending her first class. She’d been made redundant from a long career in advertising and  wanted to follow her passion for exercise and interest in wellbeing.

She gained her matwork qualification with Body Control Pilates® in 2018. She then completed their intermediate matwork and ante/post-natal Pilates courses and is currently working towards a Pilates Reformer qualification. She also has a life coaching business and runs yoga day retreats.

Keely finds she is continually learning from her clients, as each body is so different. She loves seeing clients progress and gain the fabulous benefits of Pilates, whether it’s prevention and improvement of back issues or simply having some ‘me’ time in classes.  Keely’s teaching style is relaxed and informative, with an emphasis on correct technique.

With two teenagers, home life is very busy, but Keely still  manages to spend time outside walking her dog, as well as making time for exercise, good food and wine!
